The semantics of the words «road» and «path» are highly variable and largely universal across most cultures. Based on the semiotic concept of the cultural landscape, we try to understand interaction between these meanings and the real geocultural space, in which, on the one hand, natural components affect the semiosis, and on the other, the already established codes of culture determine the meanings and perception of roads.
