Play of meanings and senses, constant shifts from fact to fiction, blurring the border between the fictional and the verified and hence questioning the very notion of truthfulness are typical of the novel by the British author Diane Setterfield. Storytelling fails to reflect or perceive reality, it rather conceals and distorts reality, thus creating a new one. The world of the novel becomes a sort of labyrinth overlapping and merging times, stories and histories.
