Abstract

The research was carried out within the framework of emotive sociolinguistics. It contributes to the problem solving of discursive variation of emotional breadth. The purpose of the study is to describe the emotional breadth in the virtual everyday media discourse as a socio-speech sphere of the language community. The hypothesis is generated in the paper, according to which the trigger of emotional breadth in this sphere of virtual communication is the dialogic modality of a native speaker, which determines the way of perceiving (interpreting) a media event. Based on the fact that the dialogic modality is manifested in three versions – a consent, a disagreement and a variant of neutral dialogic modality, their emotive actualizers are highlighted in the publication. It was revealed that the main emotive actualizers of the dialogic modality of the consent are enthusiasm, inspiration, calmness; the main emotive actualizers of the dialogical modality of the disagreement are perceived as resentment, indignation, irony, fear, (ostentatious) humility, and the main emotive actualizers of a neutral dialogic modality are stated as detachment, surprise and contradictory feelings
