The article investigates the features of embodiment of Mozart and Salieri images as well as and their relationships in the context of reflections on the artistic truth affirmed in the play, which is revealed in fiction, and historical truth meaning. The postmodern form of the classic plot is emphasized. The study of Mozart and Salieri images in the play is supplemented by the analysis of their originality in the screen version.
