“Oblivion” (2011) by Sergej Lebedev: biographical fact and fiction (OPEN ACCESS)

Abstract

This article attempts to analyze the poetical manner of the novel “Oblivion” (Предел забвения, 2011, Engl.  2016) of Sergey Lebedev (b. 1981). This work is set to continue and, in the same time, deconstruct the literary tradition of "Post-Soviet Hauntology" (Alexander Etkind), where the cultural memory of Stalinist terror is presented by depiction of ghosts and spirits. It is suggested, that by means of creating of the author’s myth the historical trauma of repressions is reflected upon, and the ways of working through the past are demonstrated.
