An artist and a world-renowned thinker, Nicholas Roerich conducted extensive correspondence with famous painters, writers, scientists, public, state and spiritual figures of his time. His addressees also included family members, like-minded people, coworkers of cultural and educational organizations founded by him in various countries. Multifaceted in content, this correspondence is of great value for further study of his biography, contacts, creative and scientific-philosophical heritage. The letters consider various aspects of human activity in their inseparable unity, raise questions about the leading role of culture in human evolution, and also reveal the philosophical and personal understanding of world events and the rich human experience of their author. The materials prepared for publication from the funds of the Public Museum named after Nicholas Roerich cover mainly the Indian period of the artist's life.
