The article analyzes the unique temple complex Gandan in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), its history and the main temples included in it. The methodological approach to the description and analysis of the entire complex is substantiated from the point of view of the concept of the cultural landscape and the principles of ensemble. A graphosemiotic method is proposed in revealing the specifics of the compositional solution of the entire ensemble based on the methods known since antiquity to achieve unity and harmony of all parts, namely, the method of dynamic rectangles. With its help, it is shown that at the points of intersection of the main lines are the main elements of the complex – three entrances, the main temple of Megjid Zhanrayseg and other sanctuaries. The temple complex is revealed in the process of the visitor's movement from the most advantageous positions at the points of harmonic proportions.
