The paper substantiates the need for a new line of research within Discourse Studies that would focus on ways of discussing cancer and introduces the concept of ‘oncodiscourse’. Oncodiscourse is described as a complex structure with a further analysis of some of its types. The paper considers the principles underlying the organization of oncodiscourse, discusses the issue of its regulation, demonstrates the advantages of ecological thinking as a basis for constructing a well-balanced and comfortable discursive space that meets the needs of cancer patients and the society as a whole, provides examples of ecological and anti-ecological discursive practices.
