This article examines the space of the subconscious, represented by the dreams of L. Tolstoy’s characters. It reveals Tolstoy's approach to the problem of expressing moral attitudes in dreams. The paper traces the connection between desires, aspirations, secret fears of characters and dreams. It also considers symbolic images reflecting the experiences of the dreamer. The paper reveals the role of the «blizzard» space in constructing the dream plot and revealing the mental state of the dreamer against the background of the analysis of the «snowstorm» dreams of the characters of V. Zhukovsky, A. Pushkin, S. Aksakov.
